The belief that trust, integrity, appreciation, and respect make Clariant and our employees stronger, ensuring long-term prospects, has been incorporated into our Global Employment Policy and Code of Ethics. Clariant’s membership in the UN Global Compact, our Group Policy on Human Rights, and global employment standards form the basis for activities in the DE&I area. To further foster an inclusive workplace, Clariant is supporting  Employee Resource Groups (ERG), which are sponsored by members of the Executive Leadership Team.

Clariant’s global family support and flexible working policy are a strong pillar in allowing parents in general, and particularly women, to combine professional development and private life. We continuously reassess how to support parents and caregivers.

Pay equity and living wage

At Clariant, we prioritize pay equity to ensure fair and unbiased remuneration for all employees—regardless of age, gender, cultural background, religious beliefs, or sexual orientation.

To foster transparency, we’ve introduced several initiatives, including targeted training and simplified resources that make it easier to access and understand remuneration-related information. We also conduct awareness sessions specifically focused on addressing the gender pay gap. Dedicated tools and processes help us analyze, track, and reduce this gap continuously.

Our commitment to fair pay is reinforced through our global Living Wage Initiative, launched in 2023. In 2025, Clariant was officially certified by the Fair Wage Network as a global Living Wage employer, confirming that 100% of our employees worldwide earn at least a living wage that covers essential needs such as housing, food, healthcare, and education. Robust governance and annual independent assessments help ensure this standard is maintained over time.

Our ambition goes further. By 2030, we aim to extend living wage principles to our contractors and suppliers—collaborating with partners who share our values and commitment to fairness.

Health and safety

As a global specialty chemical company and a responsible employer, we are committed to promoting safety and health in the workplace. It is our commitment to address safety comprehensively and to ensure that employees come home from work as healthy as when they arrived.

Therefore, occupational safety processes and culture are top priorities to protect Clariant’s employees, ensure seamless manufacturing operations, and meet legal requirements and regulations at any time. This applies to all employees, supervised workers as well as contractors who must follow Clariant’s rules and measures. Additionally, comprehensive process safety management systems are in place across our plants to ensure high standards. Process risk analysis, change management, and regular audits are core elements to identify, assess and control risks in our production processes.

In 2023, our accident rate, measured by »Days Away, Restricted, or Transferred« (DART), decreased by over 46 % in 2023, which places us in the top quartile of the chemical industry.
