Ahmed Alumar is a senior executive and board governance professional with almost 40 years of leadership experience at SABIC, spanning corporate governance, board affairs, global M&A, joint ventures, international operations, and strategic investments.
He concluded his career at SABIC in September 2026, where he served as Vice President, Board Affairs, and Secretary General of the SABIC Board, providing governance leadership and strategic support to the board and its committees. Previously, he held senior leadership roles in Global M&A and Joint Ventures Affairs, overseeing a broad portfolio of SABIC’s global subsidiaries and joint ventures, and held executive positions in Oxygenates and SABIC Asia Pacific in Singapore.
Throughout his career, Ahmed has served on the boards of several major international and regional companies and joint ventures, including Ar-Razi Methanol Company, where he served as chairman for seven years, and GPIC Bahrain, where he served as a board member for more than ten years.
His experience encompasses corporate governance, board effectiveness, M&A and investments, joint ventures, corporate finance, international business, and strategic leadership. He is a GCC Board Directors Institute Honorary Fellow and has held leadership roles in regional and international industry organizations.
Ahmed is a certified board director and holds an MBA from KFUPM and a bachelor's degree in business from KAU, both in Saudi Arabia.
