Education and employee engagement initiatives in India

Thanks to Clariant’s support in 2014, ten needy local institutions and NGOs were able to improve their infrastructure with new furniture, roof sheeting and canteen and laboratory equipment donated by Clariant. In Kanchipuram, India, Clariant shared the salary costs of two teachers for one year, providing special teaching classes in mathematics and English at the Singadiwakkam High School. The company also sponsored the higher education of the school’s top three meritorious students.

Similar valuable contributions to the continuing education of local children were made in Roha, with the donation of computers to a school near the site and the distribution of note books among four schools in the area.

These initiatives are an opportunity for Clariant to make an impact on an individual level. Besides financial support, many Clariant employees take the opportunity to visit the projects on a regular basis, engaging in fun activities with the children and giving them a sense of an extended family.

In 2016, a sports day was organized at the Vatsalya Foundation shelter homes in Mahalakshmi, Mumbai, and the Ma Niketan shelter homes in Thane.
