Mild surfactants for gentle cleaning
Consumer demand for gentler, more sustainable cleaning products has made mild surfactants a growing priority in home care formulation. Mild surfactants deliver effective cleaning with a more favorable skin and environmental profile compared to conventional options. They are well suited for sensitive formats, concentrated products, and applications where skin contact is frequent. Clariant offers two complementary categories: sugar-based surfactants under the GlucoPure™ brand and mild anionic surfactants under the Hostapon™ and Medialan™ brands.
Sugar surfactants: GlucoPure™ range
The GlucoPure™ range is Clariant's portfolio of sugar-based surfactants (glucamides) for home care formulations. Based on renewable raw materials, these surfactants combine cleaning performance with gentle skin compatibility and a strong sustainability profile. The range covers products for hand and automatic dishwashing, as well as for laundry.

Mild anionic surfactants: Hostapon™ and Medialan™ ranges
Clariant offers a wide range of mild anionic surfactants based on amino acid chemistries, including taurates and sarcosinates. Derived from plant-based raw materials, these surfactants deliver cleaning and caring benefits that are gentle to skin and gentle to surfaces. They are compatible with a wide range of formulation systems and support ecolabel-certified products.

The Hostapon™ range covers taurate-based mild anionics. Hard water tolerant and available in powder form, these surfactants are especially suited for solid and concentrated detergent formats across hand dishwashing and laundry applications. The Medialan™ range covers sarcosinate-based mild anionics. Plant-based and compatible with a variety of formulation systems, these ingredients support sulfate-free formulations with good foaming properties and skin conditioning benefits.
